Need to make a DIY witch broom for your Halloween decorations? This frugal craft will set your decor apart from any store-bought ones.
This year I chose a witchy Halloween theme for my front porch. I didn’t want to go over the top but I wanted a couple of statement pieces.

I made a sign to hang on my porch that says “OLD SALEM BROOM CO. handcrafted & enchanted since 1692”. It just needed a cute handmade broom to attach to the front of it.

What do you need to make a Halloween witch’s broom?
Since my witch’s broom was going to be used outside by my front door I made mine out of sticks (it just made sense and I didn’t have to buy anything double woohoo!). Here’s what I used to make my DIY witch broom.

DIY WITCHES BROOM
Equipment
Materials
- large stick cut to preferred length
- thin twigs
- jute or twine
- hot glue stick
Instructions
- GATHER SUPPLIES-
- CUT TWIGS TO DESIRED LENGTH- Using cutters trim twigs to desired length. This will vary from broom to broom depending on how long you want your broom end to be. I just eyeballed mine but they were approx. 8" in length.
- ADD TWIGS TO STICK BROOM HANDLE- First hot glue twigs to the end of the stick broom handle. Then add more on and tie them securely in groups to the end of the broom. Hot glue twigs in place where areas are bare.
- WRAP WITH TWINE- When you are satisfied with the amount of twigs you have on the end of your broom wrap the top of the twigs, where they are connected to the broom handle, with twine/jute.
HOW TO MAKE A DIY WITCH BROOM
1. GATHER SUPPLIES
You will first need to gather all of your supplies. Thankfully this Halloween craft needs minimal items to create a DIY witch broom.
- a stick cut to length for the broom stick handle. I used my miter saw to cut mine to the size I needed.
- lots of twigs, these are the bristles of the broom.
- wire cutters (this is what I used to cut the twigs to size)
- hot glue gun
- hot glue sticks
- jute or twine
- scissors

2. CUT TWIGS TO DESIRED LENGTH
Using cutters trim twigs to desired length. This will vary from broom to broom depending on how long you want your broom end to be. I just eyeballed mine but they were approx. 8″ in length.

3. ADD TWIGS TO STICK BROOM HANDLE
I found it was easy to hot glue some of the twigs to the base of the broom first.

Once there was a good base on the end of the stick broom handle I started gathering several sticks at once then tied them on with a piece of twine.

Next I hot glued more sticks onto the bare areas of the broom handle for more twig coverage.
4. WRAP WITH TWINE
When you are satisfied with the amount of twigs you have on the end of your broom wrap the top of the twigs, where they are connected to the broom handle, with twine/jute.

You will want to wrap this several times around the twigs then tie it in a knot.
That’s it! You now have a super affordable DIY witch broom to use for your Halloween home decor.

I LOVE this broom and I think it really makes my witchy porch decor spooktacular!!
